Bio Oil’s Exciting New Launch!

We all know Bio Oil. The orange oil with the white cap has been famously used by countless expecting mums on their bumps in order to avoid stretchmarks. I personally used it for years on my bum & thighs as I had such angry tiger strips there – I’m not sure it did much if I’m honest – but I gave it a good try!

Bio Oil have launched a new product: Dry Skin Gel, and I’m a real fan. It has a delightful light, jelly-like consistency and it’s intended to be intensely hydrating for dry skin, so it’s been launched at just the right time of year.

It’s around that time that skin get a bit dry, isn’t it. Our elbows harden a tad and skin gets kind of neglected under the thermal layers.

For me, though, it’s the shins. Oils and creamy moisturisers are great but not for my shins: it’s like they become impervious to my usual products! I’ve been trialling this product for 2 months now and only have good things to say.

I just really, really like the consistency. Imagine aloe vera gel but…It doesn’t disappear the second you rub it in. it’s got an oiliness to it: not that it sits on the skin, rather it adds a note of luxury to the feel of it all. My skin is really hydrated on shoots and if you use a little bit extra, it gives limbs a pleasant sheen.

The tub doesn’t seem very big but because you need so little for the whole body, it’s lasted me ages and there’s still a quarter left in there.

There are plenty of mineral oil naysayers out there and I definitely tend to avoid it on my face as it can block pores, but for an extra hydration boost in winter this is fabulous. Full of hyaluronic acid and vitamin B3, great for moisture and barrier-strengthening the skin, I’m a huge fan.

Bio Oil have proved that you don’t need to constantly churn out new products to stay relevant: after 30 years, they’ve brought out another game changer…
