This Might Just Cure Our Smartphone Addiction…
Over the course of the last year or so, I’ve moaned about pigmentation. I’ve largely blamed sun damage and the pill that I’m on causing melasma.
However, did you know blue light from screens cause ageing? I actually did know that you had to be careful, but thought that my usual SPF 50 filtered that out, too. But apparently not? According to a study by The University of New Mexico, this lght – HEV (High Energy Visible) causes oxidative stress to skin. One of the results? Hyper pigmentation.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I started getting a patch of pigmentation above my lip a couple of years back, when i really started using my phone and trying to build my Insta and, well, my addiction started.
I’ve seen brands say that their products filter out HEV, but apparently a really effective solution has not been found as yet. I’m a little worried about the long term dangers to my skin’s health.
For now, I think it’s fantastic impetus to step away from the screens. I really want to establish more order into my phone use: perhaps a schedule, banned times, or time slots to allow for the necessary evils of Insta etc, but ceasing the scrolling when it’s a little mindless.
Anyway – I heard this nugget of info and wanted to share with you all.
